Not so good shopping trip

Ok I have been sick so today I was really excited to get out and do some money saving. I was a bit disappointed...but I learned a few lessons that I thought I would share.

Target
What I went for ... (see previous Target post) I left with 4 Motts Applesauce and 1 Pledge for $1.12.

What I learned...
1) our Target doesn't carry all the products they have advertised in their ad i.e. market pantry soups

2) our Target will not guarantee that a sale item will be restocked i.e. cheap razors

3) our Target will not accept coupons that have a value greater than the item you are purchasing. For example I really wanted to get free Pledge. So I printed the $3/1 Pledge printable and the Target Pledge printable. I found Pledge for $3.50 - by combining both these coupons I should have been able to get Pledge for free ... however our Target did not honor both these coupons tonight because I would have had a $.50 overage. I was told by a manager tonight that they will not accept coupons for more than the price of the item... i.e. you pretty much can't get anything free at Target :-( I was pretty sad.

But you can get Motts Applesauce for $.13 and Pledge Multi-surface cleaner, $3.39 ($2/1 Pledge Printable and $1/1 Target Printable) for $.39 so still a win

Sorry Jana about the Renu contact solution - our target doesn't carry it BUT Walmart does have the trial size for $1.47 after the $1 printable you can get it for $.47 and considering that 2 trial size bottles makes 1 regular size bottle at $4 this isn't too bad...

Last lesson I learned .... try these deals before I post them :-( I apologize if you have printed a bunch of coupons in hopes of getting previously mentioned deals.

  1. That's kinda crazy... so you can't use a coupon that is worth more than the item... Even if you are buying more items to make up for the overage? That is kinda weird... Also, I got an email from Target corporate that said that their policy is to adjust coupons down if they are worth more... maybe something to ask about...?
